This is a strategic position that will help develop and execute a NNS strategy to increase our involvement in in-service engineering, logistics, and ship support activities for the FORD Class. The candidate will be in a leadership position that will often work in “white space” and they need to feel comfortable and confident in an environment where they are creating solutions. They will take their ideas and present them internally and externally and as such the candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. They also need to feel comfortable in developing and leading effective teams.

The candidate must have detailed knowledge of ship’s force maintenance, repair and training activities with CVN 78 knowledge desired. The successful candidate will also have knowledge of in-service support for US Navy ships (specifically CVNs, FORD Class knowledge is preferred) including understanding availability planning, work document development, execution, and completion reporting as described in the Joint Forces Maintenance Manual (JFMM). Understanding the roles of Hull Planning Yard (HPY), Propulsion Plant Planning Yard (PPPY), Lead Maintenance Activity (LMA), Carrier Planning Activity (CPA), Naval Supervising Activity (NSA), and Type Commander is necessary.

An understanding of Navy logistics (i.e. Provisioning, Tech Manuals, maintenance requirements, etc.) and the Navy logistics data systems that support logistics (CDMD-OA, M&SWP, ATIS, TDMIS, etc.) is desired.

Knowledge of iDS initiatives and the existing engineering toolsets (Siemens NX, TcU, etc.) is desired. The ability to think strategically and creatively to extend the digital thread (Design, Build, Lifecycle) through Life Cycle Authority is vital to the position.

Defines, designs and implements continuous improvement programs to ensure programs are integrated vertically and horizontally across organization. Defines improvement projects aligned with business strategies. Analyzes improvement programs and potential results. Facilitates and coaches improvement teams. Establishes and maintains performance metrics to measure program success. Installs process excellence supports for program governance, project reviews, communications, training, certifications and rewards. May have six-sigma certification.
