External Job Description:
This position requires a strong educational background in fluid-dynamics with a Master’s degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics from an ABET accredited school of engineering. Experience in external, incompressible, high-Reynolds Number, steady and unsteady flows is desirable, and experience with free-surface or multi-phase flow modeling is a plus. As directed, applies selected techniques and procedures to assignments involving ship design and ship performance analyses. Assists in the solution of difficult problems involved in areas of assignment. The candidate should have strong writing and oral presentation skills, and should be able to clearly explain complex ideas and simulations to professionals of varied backgrounds.

Experience with Pointwise, Hypermesh, Ansys Fluent, and Openfoam are a plus. The candidate should also be prepared to support empirical and experimental work as necessary. May require the ability to physically access a wide variety of work sites, including those aboard ships under various stages of construction or overhaul, including the use of vertical and inclined ladders, and may involve limited kneeling, stooping, standing etc. Requires the ability to obtain and retain a security clearance.
