External Job Description:
This position will primarily work out of our Woodlake Fabrication Shop location in Chesapeake, VA but will also travel locally to shipyards and military bases supporting our Hull, Mechanical & Electrical department in fabrication and fleet modernization. With the understanding that tasking may require out of town travel for short durations up to 50% of the time. This is depending on contract awards and support required as per trade/skill set.
You must have the following experience in order to qualify for this position.
• Extensive experience with troubleshooting and maintenance on welding equipment.
• Experience reading and interpreting blue prints and drawings.
• Experience cutting and fitting materials in accordance with drawings, sketches and blue prints.
• Must be able to pass welding tests for SMAW, FCAW welding processes or have current qualifications.
• Must be able to perform burning and torching operations (gas torch, hand held plasma cutter, carbon arc rig)
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) ID card and at a minimum a DoD CONFIDENTIAL security clearance.
• Must be able to travel locally or out of area up to 50% of the time. Current passport and out of country travel possible for tasking as required
Master understanding of production and processes. Responsible for interfacing with customers, managing subcontractors and ability to provide work direction to others. May provide direction and lead others. May manages one or more multiple jobs. Completes comprehension of specialty trades functions and tools. Performs a variety of complicated and non routine tasks. Develops and uses technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports. Schedules, reports and briefs customers and senior management. May perform quality inspections on finished product as a WWI/ QCI or VT-NDT if qualification is currently or previously held. Performs duties outside of specialty in order to complete installation or work assignment, team member effort a must.
Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May require wearing a respirator to comply with OSHA/Company Requirements of assigned task. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
*Candidate must be able to demonstrate welding ability on multiple processes through qualification testing and pass with a satisfactory grade from our Quality Assurance Team for continued employment.

•Knowledge and ability to operate fabrication shop equipment (power saws, iron worker, power shear, hydraulic press) a plus.
•Experience with water tight doors and enclosures is a plus.
•Current DoD SECRET clearance a plus
