External Job Description:

The System Application Analyst is responsible for planning, implementing, configuring, maintaining, and problem resolution for security based applications and supporting infrastructure. The incumbent will interface with Business Resource Managers, Technical Managers, and other peers to provide vulnerability and patch management; enforce compliance of policies, procedures and work instructions; perform capacity planning, performance monitoring, incident and problem management, change and configuration management, and service level performance.

Candidate must have general knowledge in the following areas:

•Provide security based Application Analyst functionality which includes:

oInstalling and configuring new security based applications

oResponding to technical queries

oSoftware rationalization and lifecycle management

oPerforming routine monitoring and audits of systems

oDeploy applications and services related to password updates, application and operating system provisioning, encryption and monitoring

oApplication maintenance and troubleshooting

oCoordinate and implement application patches, upgrades, and configuration changes

oSystem monitoring and performance tuning

oBusiness continuity, disaster recovery planning and testing, and configuration documentation

oAnalyze system and audit logs and identify potential issues

oResponsible for system integrity, backup, and recovery

oResponsible for server builds, security, and transition to production

oProvide 24x7 security application support

oServer and desktop security based applications (McAfee, Sophos)


Develops computer systems specifications that address business requirements and that fit with the companys system architecture standards. Establishes and documents system parameters and formats, ensures hardware and software systems compatibility and coordinates and/or modifies system parameters in terms of existing and projected computer capacity and capabilities. Revises existing systems and procedures to correct deficiencies and maintain more effective data handling, conversion, input/output requirements, and storage.

Preferred Qualifications:

•Must have knowledge of Windows Operating System; general knowledge of Linux a plus.

•Aptitude and willingness to learn:

oEnterprise Security Suites, preferably McAfee Host Based Security Suite (HBSS)

oSecurity Event Information Management tools; in a large enterprise supporting more than 5,000 users.

oHow to identifying and resolving issues across multiple environments (Linux, Windows, VMware)

oActive Directory, DNS, Kerberos, Claims Authentication, and VMWare virtualization technologies

oMicrosoft SQL Server 2008/2012. Hands-on DBA experience is a plus.

•General knowledge in implementing, patching, and upgrading security based applications

•General knowledge in application change management through the various states of the lifecycle

•General knowledge in computer security techniques

•Good oral and written communications skills

•Excellent customer service skills
