Pipefitters are responsible for installing these complex systems together on the ship and in the shop: more than 23 miles of pipe are installed on a submarine, and more than 230 miles of pipe are installed on a carrier. As a pipefitter, you will learn to read blueprints, fabricate, install, inspect, and test the many piping systems onboard a ship. In your first few weeks at the company you will attend a Fundamentals of Piping Fitting class where you will receive important information needed for you to perform you job. Basic Qualifications:

Qualified candidates must have at least one (1) of the three (3) qualifying skill sets listed below in order to be considered for this position:

• Two (2) or more years experience as a Pipefitter, Plumber, or HVAC Mechanic in the manufacturing or industrial environment.

• One (1) year as a Pipefitter, Plumber, or HVAC Mechanic in the manufacturing or industrial environment, and two (2) or more years in a technical/mechanical trade such as: Carpentry, Construction, Steel Fabrication, Diesel/Automotive Mechanics, or a similar trade in an industrial environment, or

• One (1) year as a Pipefitter, Plumber, or HVAC Mechanic in the manufacturing or industrial environment, and a certificate or diploma in a technical/mechanical trade such as: Carpentry, Construction, Steel Fabrication, Diesel/Automotive Mechanics
